Patient voice — vascular dementia

This layer synthesizes public, non-identifying evidence about living with vascular cognitive impairment, post-stroke cognitive change, mixed dementia, CAA, and inherited SVD.

Live PubMed searches covered post-stroke memory, cognitive-testing acceptability, dementia caregiving, culture, and help-seeking. Public organization sites were fetched directly and HTTP outcomes recorded in organizations.md.

Ethics

1. Public sources only.
2. No private names or identifying details.
3. Themes reported in aggregate.
4. No quotation is reproduced.
5. Each established theme has at least two sources.
6. Testimonial evidence identifies priorities, not efficacy.
7. Caregiver and patient perspectives are not treated as interchangeable.
8. Aphasia and severe cognitive impairment may be systematically excluded.

Coverage boundary

The evidence is strongest for English-language post-stroke and general-dementia research. Vascular-dementia-specific qualitative studies are sparse; general dementia evidence is labeled as such rather than silently generalized.
