Organisation Country URL What the retrieved page says
Anxiety Canada Canada https://www.anxietycanada.com/ The site now carries a bilingual "Notice of Website Closure" stating that as of April 1 Anxiety Canada has officially ceased operations and is no longer available, that user data has been securely archived, and that a subset of its resources remains available via the Vancouver CBT Centre and Here to Help BC. The notice does not state the year (retrieved 2026-09-02). This is a material change to the anxiety patient-organisation landscape: a national organisation with a large free self-help library is gone.

Patterns in the directory

  1. Almost no organisation is GAD-specific. Of the verified entries, only the NIMH fact sheet is dedicated to GAD alone; SADAG maintains a GAD section within a broader anxiety area. Everything else addresses "anxiety" as a category. This mirrors the pooling problem in the research literature (the diagnostic boundary) — the patient-facing world also does not carve GAD out.
  2. The strongest offer is peer support, not information. Anxiety UK (lived-experience advisors, groups, low-cost therapy), No Panic (helpline plus mentoring), SANE (moderated 24/7 forums) and Deutsche Angst-Hilfe (self-help group infrastructure) all centre human contact. That is the service most consistently absent from the trial literature.
  3. Coverage is concentrated in Anglophone high-income countries. Verified entries cluster in the UK, Australia, Canada, the US and New Zealand, with single entries for South Africa, India, Germany, Denmark, Ireland and Japan. Given that GAD prevalence is lowest and the treatment gap largest in low- and middle-income countries (epidemiology and burden), this is exactly the inverse of where organisational support is needed.
  4. Organisations are fragile. One national organisation in this directory closed (Anxiety Canada). Directories of this kind decay quickly and need re-verification at each sweep.
